“Stories of the 1933 Sears National Quilt Contest"

Nancy Ciesiel will share her research into the Sears-sponsored National Quilt Contest at the 1933 World’s Fair. Her presentation is based on the book Patchwork Souvenirs of the 1933 World’s Fair, by quilt historians Merikay Waldvogel and Barbara Blackman. Nancy will take on the persona of a woman of the ‘30s entering her quilt in the contest and share her story with us. Quilters and collectors who are interested in sharing a depression-era quilt with the audience can call Alice at 708-927-1092
